Here are some links picked up in the process of writing and researching "Too Many People Can Have Sex and Get Married." Wednesday, July 28, 2004
This is a must read story by Natalia Munoz from Monday's The Republican: When his turn came to speak at the community dialogue on the Iraq War, Staff Sgt. Jimmy Massey of the United States Marines Corps chewed his gum slowly and slowly scanned the 150 people in the audience.Nothing more needs to be said right now. Tuesday, July 27, 2004
Once again it appears that even pretending that the "war on terror" makes sense is too arduous for the Bush Administration Via tex of antiwar.com, we can all see that some terrorists are better than others. Here's the story... The MEK is a group dedicated to overthrowing the current regime of Iran. For its efforts, the State Department classifies the MEK as a terrorist group. If you believe the hype, Iran wants to kill us all, and so Uncle Sam has decided to grant "protected status" to the MEK. As a certain George W. Bush once said, "Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists." Since Bush is "leading America to victory," I can only conclude that the United States of America is with the terrorists. Yeah! I'm back from a brief vacation during which I impersonated the world's many Elvis impersonators for a few minutes. This showed me that the American spirit is alive and well, which is more than could be said for blogger last Wednesday when I tried to post. Other than that, in all honesty, I took the vacation so that I could drop something off to my 31-year old niece. When I came to her apartment and was not let in after not knocking twice, I knocked the door down and found my unmarried niece fornicating with a man. Apparently reading Chick tracts to her didn't prevent my niece from becoming a slut. This terrible experience strengthened my belief that too many people can have sex and get married. This is not a representative sample of the world wide web, but what would be? These certainly are not. Sunday, July 18, 2004
The Bush Administration remains determined, optimistic and focused on the duty given to it by God Himself (and not I'm not talking about keeping those people from being able to ruin the institution of marriage) Things are going so wonderful in Iraq that one could almost excuse the Bush Administration for forgetting about the dangers of the world. The sovereign Iraqi government is doing what it is told to do and sexually abused Iraqi boys may very well just be beginning to forgive their liberators, but Team Bush realizes that there are still people out there who need to be liberated, killed and/or prevented from attacking and killing the good people of the United States of America at any moment. Jenifer Johnston writes in the today's Sunday Herald: PRESIDENT George Bush has promised that if re-elected in November he will make regime change in Iran his new target.Conveniently the 9/11 Commission is about to report, in the words of Julian Coman from today's Telegraph, "that Iran, not Iraq, fostered relations with the al-Qa'eda network in the years leading up to the world's most devastating terrorist attack." But there's no need to kick ass like there was in Iraq just as there is no reason to think that if Iran is half as evil and dangerous as we are supposed to believe they are that Iran would respond to this by preemptively attacking the U.S. Nope, not at all, what the fuck would give you that idea? Grunts Gone Wild Seymour Hersh says Uncle Sam has video tapes of U.S. troops sodomizing Iraqi boys at Abu Ghraib prison. *** "Sexual-assault organizations across the country are shipping rape-evidence collection kits to each member of Congress in hopes that more of the investigative tools will end up in the war zone to help troops who are victimized," Miles Moffeit writes in Wednesday's Denver Post. "That move is in response to growing concerns among victim-rights leaders and several lawmakers that not enough kits are available to help soldiers. Nearly 200 U.S. women soldiers have sought assistance from civilian rape-crisis agencies since the war started, saying they were assaulted by fellow troops. Many have reported their cases were mishandled, in part because of inadequate forensic and medical treatment." Friday, July 16, 2004
The greatest PTL episode EVER At a little past 10 last night I turned on the telly and had the opportunity to watch Praise the Lord on TBN. John Hagee was the guest host and when I turned out the program he was interviewing Jack Van Impe and his wife Rexella. Everybody seemed to agree that the end times were near. Jack even went as far as to say that armageddon was near, but don't fear Hagee still had time to justify invading Iraq. Jack announced that Rexella had just received her doctorate in journalism. I wonder what type of school it was since the woman isn't exactly overflowing with logical thoughts. She would go on to say that "terrorism" (left undefined) was the last sign before the rapture. She went on to talk about how by looking at the Bible it is possible to know exactly what is going to happen in the future. Hagee voiced no disagreement with this and so it was notable later in the program when he said that if America doesn't reject gay and lesbian marriage, the country is finished. Prayer really does work I failed to pray to God so that God would do something so that the U.S. Senate would pass the Federal Marriage Amendment, and what do you know? The Senate fails to pass the FMA. Tuesday, July 13, 2004
Yesterday Bush said: Although we have not found stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction, we were right to go into Iraq. We removed a declared enemy of America, who had the capability of producing weapons of mass murder, and could have passed that capability to terrorists bent on acquiring them. In the world after September the 11th, that was a risk we could not afford to take. The prez sure is a master at provoking anger from me. Monday, July 12, 2004
If you support the Democrats, you are helping Bush... Democrats are helping Bush, as this Reuters story from last Thursday makes clear: Illinois fixed a glitch in its election law on Thursday to ensure President Bush appears on the state's Nov. 2 ballots.Previously I've made a joke out of how Democrats don't have any problem with Bush running for president, but there is a reason for their stance. Both the Democrats and Republicans need the other define what their politics will be. Sunday, July 11, 2004
What's the point of not wanting black voters wrongly taken off the rolls if you favor artificially controlling whom they, and all other voters, can vote for? Oh yeah, politics is a team sport with loyal fans! Saturday, July 10, 2004
Ridge Rush Buy this guy a bigger box of crayons! *** I only heard less than five minutes of Rush Limbaugh yesterday, but it was some of the best radio ever. Limbaugh was complaining about how entertainers and the news media are giving too many free "ads" to Kerry due to the bias Limbaugh claims that they have. It seems as if the only thing that could even this out would be if an ardent and passionate supporter of Bush had a nationally syndicated radio show where he could talk about how great Bush is for three hours five days a week. If only... Friday, July 09, 2004
Nader and the GOP, insurgents and the Patriot Act lives Being a dedicated member of the Michigan Republican Party, info@migop.org sent me this email yesterday with the subject line reading, "Mich. GOP Alert: Help get Ralph Nader on the ballot!" ***ALERT***ALERT***If politics is about power, Republican support for Nader is certainly less problematic than Medea Benjamin shilling for Kerry. *** "Contrary to U.S. government claims, the insurgency in Iraq is led by well-armed Sunnis angry about losing power, not foreign fighters, and is far larger than previously thought, American military officials say," Jim Krane of the AP writes. "The officials told The Associated Press the guerrillas can call on loyalists to boost their forces to as high as 20,000 and have enough popular support among nationalist Iraqis angered by the presence of U.S. troops that they cannot be militarily defeated." *** "The Republican-led House bowed to a White House veto threat Thursday and stood by the USA Patriot Act, defeating an effort to block the part of the anti-terrorism law that helps the government investigate people's reading habits," writes Alan Fram of the AP. I feel safer already. Thursday, July 08, 2004
Oprah and Rush Two days ago I had the pleasure of watching a few minutes of Oprah while in the waiting room of my dentist. I saw a fascinating segment where they showed conclusively that if a bunch of 30 and 40 year old white women get together and drink as much as they want, that they become loud and intoxicated. It was fascinating. Now I know what you are saying - "Micah, everybody knows this will happen if you take a bunch of disagreeable old maids who have given away the popsicles and who don't know how to "dip it low" and keep or even get a man." True, but these were mothers, at least some of whom still has husbands. It was a most shocking eye-opener. *** "Patriotism equals military success," Rush Limbaugh said today. I'll count this as a Freudian slip. What Limbaugh was trying to say was, "military success equals patriotism," which is true but not exactly a good thing. Wednesday, July 07, 2004

Somehow I don't think it will be a blockbuster I have mixed feelings about fireworks displays, such as the one I enjoyed last night. On one hand, I find them entertaining for a reason or set of reasons that I cannot identify. On the other, the images just remind me too much of the footage of Uncle Sam dropping bombs, which is the reason I've been known to call them Baghdad Moments. To get over this, I believe I should create a short film that features typical Americans sitting in lawn chairs oohing and awing as if they were watching fireworks but as they are really watching the bodies of people from other countries who have been injured and killed by U.S. bombs. The movie will have everything! Sunday, July 04, 2004
God Bless America Amidst celebrating The Fourth of July, it is important to remember the real meaning of the season - the ability of the United States government to create myths that serve its needs. *** This is yet another collection of links that just might be of interest. Saturday, July 03, 2004
