I was recently talking with a nineteen-year-old woman when I made an off the cuff reference about leaving a trail of Reeses Pieces for someone to follow. It was obvious that she didn’t get the joke so I mentioned that it was a reference to E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (Steven Spielberg, 1982). She said she had never seen the movie. “What!?!” I said before thinking of something that prompted me to laugh.
Finally when I calmed down I explained to her that about a year ago someone a few years older than me was shocked that I had never seen Jaws (Spielberg), a movie that came out in 1975 or two years before I was born. posted by micah holmquist at 11/24/2003 09:51:00 PM
