David Kay's "Statement on the Interim Progress Report on the Activiteis [sic] of the Iraq Survey Group" is a must read if you are interested in Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programs and the search to find them. Kay says that his team has faced intimidation in its efforts to discover Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programs and that it is too early for final conclusions, but also that they have discovered equipment, materials and research related to weapons of mass destruction programs as well as weapons delivery systems that the United Nations prohibited Iraq from having in 1991. Furthermore, Kay says, "Iraq's WMD programs... were elaborately shielded by security and deception operations that continued even beyond the end of Operation Iraqi Freedom."
It does not appear that the United States knew as much about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programs as the Bush Administration claimed. At the same time, those who believe that Saddam Hussein having any kind of weapons of mass destruction programs constituted a threat and justification for the removal of his now toppled regime should find plenty of reason to justify Operation Iraqi Freedom.

U.S. President George W. Bush spoke on the report today in what seemed like a bid to prove he was literate. This section was interesting:
[Kay's] interim report said that Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program spanned more than two decades. That's what he said. See, he's over there under difficult circumstances and reports back. He says that the WMD program involved thousands of people, billions of dollars and was elaborately shielded by security and deception operations that continued even beyond the end of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In other words, he's saying Saddam Hussein was a threat, a serious danger.
