This is the current list of keywords that people have used on search engines that this blog has turned up on then was visited: With which key wordsI go this from this page of my counter. I just wish that people would follow my advice: I am of the belief that unless you know something like facts there is no reason to publicly speculate. What all of this does indicate is that there is a lot of interest in the suspension of Jeff Smoker, and actually a lot of interest in Michigan State football. This isn't good publicity but in a strange way -akin to how Central Michigan beating MSU in football in 1991 and 1992 was a big deal- this tends to show that MSU is considered enough of a "football school" that if it ever gets its act together it could become a power at least on the level of Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin. This of course brings up the coaching issue. Despite or perhaps because of what Lloyd Carr has said I do believe MSU should replace Bobby Williams and his staff once the season is over. On October 25 I wrote: If there is any debate as to whether or not Williams should return at the end of the season, I think it would be important to ask him, or any other prospective coach, two questions; What would be your goals –long term and short term- if you are the head coach next year? How do you plan to reach them?I also suggested finding a defensive innovator. I stand behind that suggestion but I would like to slightly modify the key questions that I think should be asked of any potential head coach to: -In your mind what would constitute success for this program? -How long do you believe you or any other person who takes this job should have to achiece that level of success? -As head coach how do you plan to reach that level of success? They key in my mind is to get somebody who wants to be a successful head coach of the Michigan State football team and who has the ability to be such a coach. |
